Mel Gibson
While in Austin, Texas, recording an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, Mel Gibson’s Malibu home was one of the casualties of the devastating California wildfires. Upon returning he found his property in rubble, only a chimney and fragments of roof tiles remained. “It’s emotional,” Gibson reflected on the loss. ‘You lived there for a long time and you had all your stuff.'” He said he was thankful that his family and loved ones were unharmed, despite the devastation.
“These are just things at the end of the day,” he said. Even celebrities aren’t safe from the unselective nature of the fires, the tragedy underlines.
Anthony Hopkins
Anthony Hopkins, the esteemed 87-year-old actor, tragically lost his Pacific Palisades residence to the recent Los Angeles wildfires. The $6 million property, which he acquired in 2021, was completely destroyed by the flames. At the time of the disaster, Hopkins was in the United Kingdom and did not need to evacuate. In response to the loss, Hopkins shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, stating, “The only thing we take with us is the love we give.”
This sentiment reflects his resilience and focus on the intangible aspects of life amidst the devastation. The Palisades Fire, responsible for the destruction of his home, has burned over 20,400 acres and remains only partially contained.
